Questions we get asked

Short answers, written the way we write them for clients: the answer first, the detail after.

What is answer engine optimisation?

Answer engine optimisation, or AEO, is the work of getting your business named in the answers that AI assistants give. When someone asks ChatGPT, Perplexity or Google’s AI Overview a question, they get one answer naming two or three businesses rather than ten links. AEO is how you become one of the businesses named.

How is AEO different from SEO?

SEO gets you into the pool of pages an answer engine trusts. AEO decides whether you get quoted from that pool. They are not alternatives. Answer engines lean heavily on what already ranks, so a site with no search visibility has no AI visibility either. We do both, and we measure both.

How long does SEO take to work?

Technical fixes show up in weeks. Rankings for competitive terms take three to six months. A brand-new domain takes longer because it has no history. Anyone promising page one in thirty days is either buying links or picking terms nobody searches for.

What makes a page quotable by an AI assistant?

Four things. It leads with the plain answer instead of a preamble. It uses specific numbers, places and names. It calls your business the same thing everywhere else on the web does. And it carries structured data so a machine can read it without guessing.

What is a good return on ad spend?

It depends entirely on your margin and the length of your sales cycle. For a considered B2B purchase, anything above 3x blended return is healthy. For ecommerce, 4x or better. The number that matters more is cost per customer against what that customer is worth over their life.

Do you work with businesses outside Australia?

Yes. Nitromind is based in Melbourne and works with clients in Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and Ireland.
